France Workshop - Painting the Visual Impression
It is not too late to sign up! This workshop will be held in a beautiful Chateau, in the countryside of France. Three hours from Paris. The magical charm of this place is something to experience. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, the lights, the cars, the people.....noise in general...this is your hiatus. We will be utilizing the book "Painting the Visual Impression" by Richard Whitney who highlights everything we should memorize as an artist to help us become better. His insights and wisdom are like taking years of knowledge and studying and putting into a small 'cliff note' type of book.
I will also be teaching you to assess information quickly and capture changing atmosphere with simple sketch exercises that we will do every morning to warm up. This type of teaching is called "chunking", and it works!!! I subliminally teach you good composition, which will work its way secretly into your brain. I have tested this process and have testimonies from students' whose art became better in a short amount of time. You just have to be willing to abandon your small studies and have several unfinished bits. A painter becomes a better painter with several starts, rather than a finished painting. I encourage you to find your own creative voice.
I was there last year and painted my now "famous" couch painting on the cover of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, which was inspired by the Chateau and the feeling of being so far from home, NO ONE could interrupt my work. Except the few people who all possessed the same goal I did. To CREATE!!!
This is a 10-day workshop with 7 days of creating, and one day getting inspired by Renoir in the Renoir village, Essoyes France. You can walk, hike, ride a bike, or paddle boat or swim in the big pond...aside from Painting. We will work in the studio part of the time, and plein air many days. I hope the Sunflower fields will be in bloom! They are supposed to be. You can bring any medium you work in. My daily demos will be in oil paint.
We open the workshop with a champagne dinner! We will also be sharing in cooking for two nights, but all food and drink is provided with the exception of a few meals when we have travel days into the village. We will have music or "creative" sharing in the evenings, and I have added my morning daily routine, which includes the option of participating in yoga and guided meditation.
This once in a lifetime opportunity is going to happen July 22-July 31 at the Chateau Orquevaux. It is $2500 for a shared room, or $3400 for a private room. If you have a non-participating person coming it is only $1650.
If you want me to provide supplies, it will be an additional $150. This is for Beginners-Advanced.
