10. Focus on local Furniture stores, especially if you have large art.
Each of these suggestions come with different levels of 'involvement'. Different learning curves, and different investments of time or money, different outcomes. My suggestion is to write down your goals and what you want to achieve as an artist. Do you just want recognition, and art sales are the answer (could also be an award...not a sale)? Do you want to be the best in your medium, oil , acrylic, pastel? Or maybe become a MASTER LEVEL at something?
Answer these questions:
1. How much money do I want to make? A hard question for an artist, but a must answer one. If you are reading this, you obviously want to sell your work. Do you want to just pay for supplies or make a living?
Determine this number.
2. Determine how much you are willing to invest? I think this is important- Time and Money. I heard this quote some time ago : "If you want to make money, you must be willing to spend money". How I interpret that....For example ART SHOWS- You have to buy a tent, panels, advertising paraphernalia, etc, etc....This may have a starting cost of $300- $3000. Let us look at ETSY = FREE until you sell something...It. takes time and learning how to put stuff on there. PRINTS - Cost of printing, and the chance it might not sell.
QUESTIONS:
How much to spend monthly in $:__________
How much time:_______________
3. Is this my hobby? or do I want to be full-time? Look at exactly what these mean for you. Being an entrepreneur can be a lot of work. What are you willing to do?
4. Where do you want to be in 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. Write it down, create a visual board with your goals and DO IT!
You will run up against a lot of resistance and naysayers. Push through and make your goals happen!.
