CREATIVITY- The discovery
I spend my life learning. Learning is like breathing to me, whether it is about a particular artist, and their methods - or the brain and how it functions - or the health of my body - or the vastness of this universe and its mysteries. My world is an intriguing daily discovery. A gift I possess, or some people may see it as an irritation, is to pass on my discoveries. Before the internet, I gleaned my information from books at the library. My eyes oozing over black forms on white pages. One bit of information would lead to learning another, and I would have to travel across many islands of bookshelves to the next bit of information. With every bit of information forming a whole new set of discoveries and questions!
Now the library is in my house. In a leopardy cloth covered office chair, (a friend gave me, whom I am forever grateful- but, I do not think I would have purchased a leopard clothed office chair on my own) and a 24” screen with the touch of some keys....My how life has evolved. You can even ask Siri, or Google questions and they have some pretty good answers-improving their intelligence everyday by our inquisitive minds.
Puzzling questions I have had, and it appears, many scientists and others have had is about creativity. What makes one creative? Where does it exist in our body? How can I improve it? or tap into it?
This you can read about all day and find disputes, proofs, and mystical answers. We may think we are being creative and then we meet our successor. Then we question ourselves. Sometimes stop what we are doing and give up. Or we turn inward and start on the path to become better and more creative. In my questioning, I feel the best answers seem to come from people like Einstein, Spiritual gurus and living superheros.
Can it be that creativity is part of our programming? From the start? Maybe part of learning skills that open those internal doors to self-discovery? It could be a simple choice...of saying I AM CREATIVE or I AM NOT CREATIVE...and letting the power of those words live for you.
My experience for myself, and teaching others; is that creativity is something you “discover”, much like discovering GOLD in the driest dessert and the most unlikely places. The discovery, leads you to more discovery....I find it like a dam that has been blocked and once tapped into, begins to flood your life.
Meeting creativity is like meeting yourself for the first time, and it follows with a combustive “WOW”. Because not only is it a discovery, but a realization that it has been there so blatantly your entire life, you have blocked it somehow.
Below is a list of ways to try to open this door for yourself. The one thing that I ask you is to be gentle, and patient with yourself. We all have a unique self that is not a one-size-fits all approach to anything!
1. Get into a quiet mode whether with meditation, nature, an office chair, all alone, with only YOU.....and ask yourself: What is my purpose? (listen and hear what comes up). Do this daily. maybe journal it.
2. Take a class to learn whatever it is you want to learn, online or in a group. Don’t get discouraged-just keep doing...
3. Look at those around you, they are a reflection of what is inside of you...Are they helping your grow? If not, maybe find a more creative outlet or group to help you.
4. Observe the world more consciously - pay attention to synchronicities ( if you do not know this...Start there, with your library and look up the word SYNCHRONICITY)
5. Once you open the door, even a crack! Start on that path, your path.
Have a wonderful, creative, and self-discovery DAY!!!
