Moments of Clarity & Success
Last week I shared about a Definite Chief Aim in your art. I also told you I would give you another story for your personal success. Last week, I talked briefly about Bruce Lee and how he accomplished his aim in life by writing down his goals, and what he would do in return (a service). The other 3 things I suggested for you to do after writing down your own Chief Aim (inspired from the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill)
was to:
1. Memorize it
2. Visualize it
3. Feel it emotionally
So this is a real life story and Inspiration that just happened a month ago. I call it a 'Moment of Clarity & Success'. A feel good moment.
My husband, has more energy than an eveready energizer bunny. (The bunny that has batteries that last forever). He is a bit older than I am, as he hates to admit, but his energy might outdo mine. Anyway, at his age, 67, he has been playing softball for several years. He joined an over 60 group and they have people ranging in age from 60 - 85. They are all still running, for the most part, hitting, catching, and playing ball. Having as much fun as they had 40 years ago.
JT, my husband, has been known to hit the ball over the fence a few times and still aims to do this when he goes up to bat. It makes his team happy and the other team unhappy as you can guess. But it isn't consistent.
This particular game, was the last inning, his team was winning, and as he slipped his gioves on he thought to himself, 'I am going to hit this ball over the fence!'. He walks past his team and says outloud- " I am going to hit this over the fence!". He told the umpire "I am going to hit this one over the fence." He went to bat, and with a loud POP, he ....hit the ball over the fence! The crowd went crazy (which was his team and the other team - Not too many spectators. LOL) They were saying "Just like Babe Ruth!" What a feeling!!! Whether you are 67, 85 or 25 years of age...that has to be a moment of clarity and success.
I quizzed my husband so hard! How did you do it? What were you thinking? Tell me the details!!! We need to know the formula for "hitting the ball over the fence".
Our mind is so powerful, we are creating every moment of our life with it, and may not realize it. The thoughts of clarity, then doubt, clarity, then success, clarity, then doubt again....You get the picture.
Of course, the one thing JT had going for him was that he had accomplished this task before. So #1 there was a muscle memory (he had practiced). #2 He felt good, they were already winning (detachment from the outcome). #3 He saw himself doing it when he slipped his gloves on. (visualization) #4 He was confident. #5 He expressed his desire to others with no doubts. #6 He did it for himself and the team.
What a formula. A moment of Clarity and it resulted in Success. We need to do this visualization technique over and over and weed out the doubt.
I had a friend recently tell me that doubt is good sometimes. It can be the one thing that we have to overcome and drive us to success. So look at doubt as our competitor. If it rears it's ugly head, we push it down with practice and memorization of the times of clarity.
As we approach our canvas today. See yourself hitting the ball over the fence and winning. Making a successful painting. I have faith in you...and me.
I've had people tell me that I make painting look easy. Well you haven't been there to see the struggle, the failures, the practice, the doubts, the tears, etc that I have worked through to get to the 'easy'.
Today has a whole new set of problems to work through. Kelly Kane wrote an article about how Art Goes ON meaning to me....nothing can stop you.
Keep creating!!!!
